OS Live Steam ceasing production
This past weekend, I was sad to learn that OS Live Steam is closing their live steam locomotive business. One of my first running steam locomotives was their 3/4″ Porter that I sold to build another locomotive. I’ve regretted selling that engine ever since. I also still own and operate the 1 1/2″ scale OS Baldwin Mogul. You can’t go wrong with OS. Their locomotives were all pre-machined, bolt together unlike any other I know of on the market. They just go together and run like a Swiss watch. Here is their notice:
Notice of closing a live steam locomotive business
– OS Live Steam
We regret to notify you of our closure of a live steam locomotive business. We are scheduling to stop selling O.S. live steam locomotives in the next year, on 31st March, 2021 closing the production facility in this month and going to sell only remaining stock from now on. This is because a production batch in these days is getting smaller with higher cost under the shrinking market, even minimum order quantity of the parts we outsource mismatches the current dwindling demand and the parts end up to be overstocked without sales. We are planning to continue repair service and supplying spare parts as long as we have them in stock but we are not going to make spare parts from scratch upon order. The above notice should be applied only to the locomotive department. We will continue the model and UAV engine department as usual without change. We would like to thank you for your past business and
