Live Steam

Updated: Tue, Nov 28, 2006

Nasonville Valley Railroad Co.The Nasonville Valley Railroad Company is located in the northern most part of the little State of Rhode Island. We are a 1-1/2" scale, 7-1/4" gauge Live Steam Railroad. It has been my dream to have a back yard railroad since I was just 13 years old. Although this is a private railroad, fellow live steamers are most welcome to help in construction and are welcome to run their locomotives by appointment.

Upon completion of construction, there will be a Golden Spike ceremony and solemn blessing and dedication of the railroad.

The first part of the mainline will be about 2,000 feet. The 20' long tunnel and is completed and a 100' trestle will be build in the spring. After completion of the trestle, we will tackle an 18' long bridge. Just a little grading left at the far end of the trestle, but that is less than a days work. Once all this is comple, we are ready to lay rail.

During the summer of 2005, we finished all grading, built a 92' long trestle, 10' bridge (will eventually be a covered bridge) and laid some 600' of rail (and balasted most of it). To see pictures, click the "Media" link to the right.
