North East Live Steamers
Location: Eastern MA, Southern NH, and ME
- Goal: To be a Club whose members form an outdoor model railroading "family" that convenes regularly to run "ride on sized" model railroad equipment at members' private, outdoor, "backyard railroads" in the 2-1/2" through 7-1/2" gauge sizes. In so doing, to provide interesting and varied track experiences, and to provide the recreational, social, and educational benefits that come with operating "ride on sized" model railroad equipment among other members of the "family" who are building, have built, and who operate such equipment.
- Tracks: Several, in various gauges (from 2-1/2" through 7-1/2" gauge), located at members' private property & homes in New England.
- Meet: Monthly "running meets" during spring, summer, & fall at the various private tracks of different members. Monthly social meetings (with refreshments and railroad-related entertainment) during the winter months.
- Facilities: At members' homes
- Food: Often, and usually. Hot coffee and snacks generally provided as a minimum, at all meetings.
- Work: Scheduled as required, by trackowner request.
- Notes: No Club track; operating sessions rotate between members' private tracks.
- Welcoming: active builders and runners of steam, "diesel", electric, and gasoline locomotives, as well as builders and owners of rolling stock, in the 2-1/2" through 7-1/2" gauges. Formerly a "steam only" club, and perceived by some to be "exclusive", our Constitution and bylaws were changed in 2004 to be a more friendly, more welcoming group to more members of the Hobby. Aside from active builders and runners of steam and non-steam equipment, we are also seeking and welcoming "willing trackowners" in the 2-1/2" through 7-1/2" gauges, who will host "running meets" for the Club and become North East Live Steamers trackhosts.
- Also welcoming: With advance notification, any persons seriously interested in live steam and outdoor "ride on sized" model railroading may attend our live steam events as guests, and are invited to do so. Contact our Secretary for information. We do not publish, or otherwise broadcast or publicize, our meeting locations and times. If interested, please inquire and our Secretary will be happy to invite you to some of our functions.
